2008 Pontiac G6 GXP

So how many Gs’ can an auto maker have in one model line-up? The guys at Pontiac already have a G6 GT and a G6 GTP in the stable. Now they’re adding a third, a G6 GXP which arrives in the fall. Don’t get too excited—it’s pretty much all window dressing.

For the new G6 GXP street edition—say that after two tequilas—there’s a new front fascia with braided stainless steel grill inserts, scoops on the hood, rocker moldings down the side, and a deeper rear fascia with chrome exhaust tips. Go for the coupe and you’ll get a larger, more aggressive hammerhead’ rear deck spoiler. Hey Pep Boys, Pontiac is stealing your business.

Under the hood, the GXP gets the same motor as the GTP—GM’s drop-it-in-everything 3.6-liter 252-hp V-6 coupled to a six-speed auto. GXP-specific sport-tuned suspension and standard stability control along with 18-inch rubber are also part of the package.
