Audi R8 Spyder Convertible Version Guide

Advancing the remarkable qualities and appeal of the coupe models, the R8 Spyder convertible version of the Audi R8 super car was created to combine road competence with the flair of a soft-top open air driving experience.  After the innovative 4.2-liter and 5.2-liter editions, the Spyder convertible version arrives!

With its folding roof, occupants delight in the feel of open air driving together with the famous overwhelming potential of the R8 super car. The roof that opens and closes within 19 seconds is made of canvass, offering an enduring appearance with a cutting edge style. With a 5.2-litre V10 engine, the Spyder has additional competence compared to the 4.2-litre V8 unit of the original model. It has the Quattro four-wheel drive system with a rear wheel bias, and a choice of the six-speed automated manual R-tronic or six-speed manual is offered. The same aluminium space frame construction process combined with additional fibre panels at the rear makes the Spyder weigh only 100kg more than the V10 Coupe.

Audi’s Magnetic Ride Suspension, seat belt mounted microphones for the Bluetooth system, Bang and Olufsen sound system, sat-nav and a heated and independently lowered window completes the whole driving experience!

For luggage, the only exterior compartment available is the space in the R8’s nose with a 100 litre capacity and internal storage with a decent size glove box, shallow door pockets and a pair of cubby holes between the seats.

There is a large colour display that projects information for the controls, a neat interface to control ventilation and audio systems, the steering wheel lightens at speed, and mistakes are prevented through the gearshift gate of the manual.

Comfort is assured with supportive seats, an adjustable driving position, a spacious cabin, and optional Sports suspension.

It also offers safety with the ESP and tire pressure monitoring, airbags, traction control, anti-slip regulator, and a full balance of braking aids.

Manageable on the road, driving at speed is bliss with the R8.

Although with limited seats, it is provided with Isofix points for a child seat. Accessibility through the small front boot, Bang and Olufsen sound system, and eye-catching finishing inside and out is offered. The R8’s parking sensors are important due to its deceptive overhangs, but enough low speed assistance is offered by its power steering. Thus with a reasonably luxurious price for its powerful character and unique style, the R8 is logical for a first car choice as it has astounding qualities!
