YES! 3.2 Roadster

It’s always exciting when a boutique European car company decides to bring its products stateside, especially when they don’t perpetually break down and start on fire. Based on positive response from the public and press alike, Funke & Will AG has announced that not only will its new YES! 3.2 Roadster be shown at February’s 2008 Chicago Auto Show, but also that it’s headed for U.S. distribution.
Bearing some resemblance to the Lotus Elise-based Opel Speedster and Vauxhall VX220, the YES! 3.2 Roadster requires a certain taste to appreciate. That said, those with a taste for speed should quickly forget any reservations about its looks.
The YES! 3.2 Roadster boasts 255 horsepower, an Elise-like weight of about 2000 pounds and a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.8 seconds, all of which are sufficiently impressive. If that’s not enough, the 3.2 Turbo produces 100 more horses and jumps to 60 mph in a claimed 3.8 seconds while yielding a top speed of 175 mph. Then there’s the 415-hp upgrade, and, while no numbers have been provided for this version, we’re going to guess that it will be enough to put a smile on any face.
Complete with excellent performance and supposed comfort, the YES! 3.2 Roadster could prove to be an impressive entry into the roadster market. However, don’t pull that checkbook out quite yet; pricing has yet to be announced and it’s not going to be cheap—again, think Lotus Elise territory, or around 50 grand.
